" The project has had a positive impact on our business, as well as the environment. "

Encumbered by this business imperative, telecom tower company Indus Towers was scouting for a solution that could help the company cater to the increasing telecom subscriber base. Perangur was quick to devise a solution in the form of smart tower operations. A system of smart towers consists of many towers, and a centralized system that manages them. It monitors, analyzes, controls and co-ordinates the system, based on information from the distributed set of towers. The smart tower has specialized capabilities, such as instrumentation (RFID-based asset tracking, diesel consumption monitoring etcetera), remote sensing, and a business intelligence layer (for process-driven preventive and corrective maintenance). Perangur analyzed about 6,000 sites of the company and discovered that if the identified inefficiencies were corrected, the deployment could pay for itself in one year. In the long run, it positively impacts the tower operator's business and also results in energy efficiency for the economy and the environment.
