Director (Corporate Strategy & Business Excellence) and Group CIO, Welspun Group

" We envisioned an enterprise architecture in which all companies of the group could be managed within the same datacenter. "

All its offices at Mumbai, Vapi, Anjar, and Bharuch in India; Little Rock, New York, and Ohio in the US, and one at Mexico, each have servers room catering to the needs local offices. And none had a DR. Such a topology was difficult to handle, required a high number of resources to manage, and was not energy efficient. The staggered server environment was also prone to fail from time-to-time. Pressures to effectively respond to ever-changing business dynamics created a strong need to migrate from the decentralized ecosystem to a consolidated and standardized datacenter environment. Prasad and his team consolidated the servers and created high-available, energy efficient datacenters at Anjar and Mumbai. Applications and servers were virtualized to help create an internal cloud to service all of the company's locations. Storage-level replication was introduced to ensure high availability and DR was created for critical systems.
