Sharma designed and developed a solution that would integrate the company's accounts payable system with an automated invoice scanning system. The system seamlessly picks up the PDF file of the supplier invoice from the file server and shares it with the accounts payable executive. The executive can immediately take action for the payment activity. But Sharma still needed to integrate the camera—a third party device—with the company's ERP. He worked with Canon's technical support team to figure out how to scan an invoice, convert the scanned image to pdf and transfer it to the file server. Sharma managed to achieve all this in just 48 days with no capex. The solution has added Rs 3 crore to the company's working capital.
