The IT organization needed to transform its approach from being requirement-driven to being strategy-driven if it was going to enable the company's long-term growth strategy. To that end, Mohan led a 180-day exercise that re-examined core transaction systems and created a mechanism to analyze business data, investigate operational issues, and identify gaps in the system. This resulted in the formation of a three-year roadmap to establish a business analytics platform cutting across group companies and improving key business processes. Mohan overcame one of his big challenges—securing management buy-in—by using real life case studies of how companies worldwide were transforming their businesses by using these technologies. Mohan's progressive thinking reflects in the adoption of the cloud (for messaging and HR applications) and mobility for the sales force, both bold decisions for a traditionally-run organization.
