Pandey saw this as a problem. It translated into lack of seamless collaboration across various business units, it increased system management hassles, and resulted in extremely high IT helpdesk call volumes. To effectively address these challenges, Pandey executed what is perhaps India's first migration of hybrid mail platforms to a unified communication and collaboration platform without any business communication downtime. "The deployment of a unified collaboration platform based on Microsoft technologies across seven business units, with over 1,000 locations and over 15,000 employees was carried out while implementing single sign-on, keeping all application dependencies intact, and without any loss of mail,"Pandey says. The move lowered ABFSG's capex costs as server numbers were reduced to almost a third. It also cut IT helpdesk call volumes by 30 percent.
