Another initiative undertaken by Kumanan and his team last year made IDFC's central datacenter perhaps the first in India to be certified as Energy Efficient by TUV Rheinland, a German accreditation authority that rates and certifies the energy efficiency of large datacenters around the world. To secure one of the highest certifiable standard for being green, an energy efficiency management system was deployed to put monitoring mechanisms at various levels starting from racks to panels and introducing controls in the datacenter to ensure greater energy efficiency. With this, an overall efficiency gain of about 16 percent was calculated over the last one year.
